Surfing in France
My bucket list is long and detailed. One of the things on this list is learning to surf. So my boyfriend and I found a surf festival (Enter The Wave) that would help me achieve my goal. The festival is 8 weeks long and you can book yourself a ticket for a week. Or if you are really enthusiastic a week or two. The event combines the atmosphere of a festival with a surf holiday and every week 250 guests are welcomed in sunny Naujac-Sur-Mer, France.
You sleep in adorable tipi tents on the camping site with all the other guests. The festival has a big common area with lounges, beach bars, stages, and a large dining tent. Every night a band or DJ plays and if you are not yet done you can join the beach parties.
In the morning we joined for breakfast, sometimes well rested other times a little bit less. After breakfast, you pick up your surf gear and walk to the beach. Now the real fun begins. A whole day in the water catching waves and falling. After some time in the water, we lay on the beach or played one of the beach games just to get back in the water again.
If you don’t want to lay in the sun the whole day the campground also had these really nice hammocks that were perfect for relaxing. Especially at the end of the day when you are exhausted. Next to surfing the event also organizes yoga classes and a pub crawl. You can also always take the longboards for a spin or bike to the nearest town.
We got to know really awesome people during our time there and I would go back in a heartbeat. But since we got the hang on surfing now maybe we will check out some other surfing spots.
