What to see outside of Prague
Prague is not the only nice place to visit when you are in the Czech Republic. So if you have time to do a day trip, spend some time outside of the big city.
1. Zámek Kačina
Zámek Kačina is an empire style palace surrounded by a big park. The castle is divided in three parts, the main building with halls and residence of the earl’s family and two lower wings left and right where the guest rooms were situated.
2. Kutná Hora
Next one our list was Kutná Hora a village with very nice churches, cathedrals and museums. The city is way less crowded compared to Prague but perfect to spend a morning or afternoon. Popular places to visit in this village are the Italian court, the St. Barbara Cathedral and the St. Jakub church. The city center also has a few nice cafes that have tables inside and outside so depending on the weather you can choose to drink a cold drink in the sun or a hot chocolate somewhere cozy.
I recommend visiting Kavárna na Kozím plácku in Kutná Hora , it has the whole living room feeling and serves great pies. If you order a hot chocolate, they serve this as actual liquid chocolate not some powdery stuff. Good to know is that you cannot pay by card in this establishment.
3. Jested
After visiting Kutná Hora we spent some time in the car to go to Jested, a rooted symbol of Liberec. The construction of this building brought knowledge and a variety of new materials for the Czechoslovak industry. In 2007, Jested was added to the indicative list of UNESCO. Jested is the place to dine on greater heights.
