Runde
One of the first days in Norway I visited this beautiful island.
Runde or also called the Bird Island is famous for its enormous amount of birds. The island would have 500.000 to 700.000 seabirds inhabiting the island during mating season. Most of the birds are found in the cliffs. During the mating season you can hike around the cliffs and see the seabirds. The island also has an Environmental Centre where pieces of the Dutch ship the Akerendam are on display.
From Ålesund to Runde does not mean that you will only see long roads but you will also travel by ferry to arrive on the next island. Ferries are a common means of transportation in Norway, especially in West – Norway.
