Kuala Lumpur in two days
As the biggest city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur (KL) offers gleaming skyscrapers, colonial architecture, beautiful nature and good food. Kuala Lumpur is hot, literally and figuratively speaking. The temperature was around 35°C and this led to a mix of walking and taking Grabs to and from attractions that were located more out of the city.
Buta Caves
We first went to the Batu Caves, that is a limestone hill that has a series of caves and cave temples with a giant Murugan statue at the beginning. We climbed the 272 steps to the Temple Cave where you can experience a Hindu shrine.
The second part of the cave construction is the Dark Cave where we did an educational tour of 50 minutes. In order to maintain the cave’s ecology, access is restricted and booking a tour is the only option to get into the cave. The guide can take you on your choice of adventure. There is an educational tour (+/- 45 min) and an adventure tour (up to 3 hours).
Petronas Twin Towers
Kuala Lumpur is widely recognized because of the Petronas Twin Towers. The towers are in the city center and a perfect spot to start your tour through the city. Tip: When it begins to get dark, the park next to the Petronas Twin Towers has a light show in the water.

Markets
Chinatown
It is an area that never sleeps, provides color for the eyes and is more bustling than the more glamorous neighbors in KL. Eat good food in one of the food courts and shop all kinds of stuff from herbs to dresses here.
Central Market
From Chinatown we walked to the Central Market KL, more stalls with a variety of goods. We tried Durian here, the most popular Malaysian fruit. The only thing that I say is that you either like it or not. The stalls are not only outside but also inside, so do not forget to step inside.
Masjid Jamek Sultan Abdul Samad
Both markets are close to the Masjid Mosque which is entirely white with blue and a sight to behold. We were there in the afternoon around half past 1, but that is exactly the time that they started praying.
Jalan Alor
Instead of going to Masjid we walked to Jalan Alor in the meantime, or better known as Little India. We looked around the shops and ate some rice and chicken.
Perdana Botanical Gardens
It’s a little farther out of the city center but it offers you peace and quiet after the franticness of the city center. With a butterfly garden, herbs, flowers and a pond, PBG is the place to picnic or relax. It’s a popular spot for a bridal shoot so don’t be surprised if you see brides and grooms all dosed up.
