Content during COVID-19
Since we can not leave our homes during COVID-19 I used this period as an opportunity to try out some creative indoor photography ideas. Especially in the first few weeks, I was careful to go outside and aside from a walk in the neighbourhood, my weekly outing was grocery shopping. We are lucky to have an outdoor space so I could at least enjoy the sun, but as 2 weeks became 3 weeks and so one, the urge to explore became stronger. I developed a case of cabin fever and wanted to go out again.
The Netherlands are among the few who embrace the contentious idea of group or herd immunity. Having shunned the stricter measures of neighboring states suchs as Belgium and Germany the government has pursued an “intelligent” or “targeted” lockdown. It wants to cushion the social, economic and psychological costs of social isolation and make the eventual return to normality more manageable. So with a meter and a half between me and another person we were allowed to go outside to walk, bike, shop etc.
It resulted in having the time to create some content during COVID-19. I ended up with some really cool pictures that I created during this time. You can photograph a lot of objects in your home that can lead to awesome content. I focused on portrait photography in my home and the neighbourhood.
On a balcony
I scrolled through Instagram for some fun poses to use and came by some pictures where the creator frames their face.
The park or other greenery
I love the cherry blossom season and we have some beautiful ones just before our door. Most of the trees do not have low hanging branches so I stepped on to a chair to capture the flowers. The second photo is taken in the Kralingse park, just a 10 minutes walk from our home.
Before a wall
We have a light and white home, but also if you have some funky wallpaper to show off, make some pictures before the wall with fun poses.
Before a transformer house
During one of my lunch walks I came by this mural on a transformer house.
The sky
To capture the sky and no buildings I stepped on to a chair here. The photographer is low on the floor, but I also saw some behind the scenes videos of other creators where they stepped on to the hood of a car and the photographer angled the camera a bit higher.
Create a background
This one is inspired by TikTok, I downloaded the app at the beginning of the lockdown and found some awesome #photochallanges.
